Travels of the Goodwill Ambassador
Here you will find a listing of the places your Goodwill Ambassador has traveled

August 2015
August 27 - Cherokee 135
Will and Nelson traveled to Cherokee Springs to see the conferral of a FC degree.  There
were three candidates, all friends, which was nice to see.  Had some great fried bologna
sandwiches after which RWB Tommy Watson gave a great lecture.

August 25 - Amity 87
Will and Nelson traveled to Newberry, SC to see the MM degree conferred.  Always feel
welcome at Amity. Had a great meal of chicken, green beans, rolls and cake.  Our district
deputy was there and we all enjoyed the work.

August 24 - Roebuck 357
Will and Nelson traveled to Roebuck 357 to see their candidate take his 2nd degree.  We
had a great meal of lasagna and salad.  RWB Danny did the lecture and it was smooth as
always.  If you've never seen his lecture, it is one to be remembered.

August 17 - Gaffney 187
Will, Nelson, WB Sammy Weber and WB Buster Hefner traveled to Gaffney to see
a 3rd degree conferred by the lodge of the same name.  They served a great meal
of grilled hot dogs and hamburgers.  They did excellent work, and their candidate was
very enthused.  He seems like he will be a great asset to our fraternity.

August 14-15 - 44th Annual Cave Degree Hosted by Union Lodge 38 A.&F.M.
Will and Nelson traveled to Kingston, TN to take part in the 44th Annual Cave Degree.  On
Friday night, High Point lodge #773 from Monroe, OH conferred a FC degree on their
candidate.  There were 250 brethren present representing 80 lodges, 16 states and Nova
Scotia, Canada.  On Friday afternoon, members of Florida's 17th district conferred a MM
degree on their candidate.  There were 202 brethren present, representing 104 lodges, 16
states and Nova Scotia, Canada.  Next year members from the Spartanburg AFM club will
be conferring an EA degree on Friday, August 19th.

August 6 - Poplar Springs 416
Will and Nelson traveled to Moore, SC to visit Poplar Springs and support them in bringing
another candidate into our great fraternity.  We had a great meal of baked chicken, green
beans, mashed potatoes and rolls.  There were only 12 people present as Nelson got to be
secretary for the 1st part and Senior Deacon for the 2nd part.  Will did the apron lecture and
all the other officers did a great job.
July 2015
July 21 - Philanthropic 32
Will, Nelson and WB Eddie traveled to York, SC to visit Philanthropic 32.  They were
conferring a 3rd degree on the son-in-law of a brother who is actually a member of
Lockhart.  They grilled some hamburgers with all the fixings and had some very delicious
twice baked potatoes, along with an excellent assortment of desserts.  They put on an
excellent degree, with WB Eddie doing the working tools, standing in as MEKS, as well
      as doing the lecture.

July 17 - Mountaintop Degree - Greeneville, TN - Geeneville 3 F&AM
Will, Benji Sorrells, WB Wayne McDainels (Calhoun 81) and RWB Sam Turner III (PDDGM,
Roebuck 357)  traveled to Greeneville, TN to experience their Mountaintop degree.  This
degree was special not only because it was on top of a mountain, but all the members of the
degree team were dressed as Civil War reenactors.  It was a great degree, that also showed
how members of the Union and Confederacy armies might have laid their arms aside to
celebrate the greater good of Freemasonry.  It was a TN style degree which is quite different
than an SC 3rd degree.  The made a great meal of hamburgers and hot dogs.  We will try to
       go again next year.

Will, Nelson, WB Sammy, WB Eddie and WB Wayne McDaniel from Calhoun 81 traveled to
Converse-Cowpens 210 to watch them confer a 1st degree.  This is the first degree they had
conferred in about three years.  I'd like to say a personal thanks to WB Jimmy Hayes for the
invitation.  They served a great meal of salmon stew.  We will definitely try to visit their lodge
      again.

got to sit in as chaplain.  Their newest master mason (raised in February) did the working
tools.  A great degree put on by a great lodge.

May 15 - Divver 349
Will and Nelson made the 2 hour trip to Anderson, SC to visit Divver 349.  The meal was
easily the best we've had in a while. Barbecue, cornish hen split down the middle, coleslaw,
baked beans, a roll and banana pudding for dessert.  If anyone left hungry it was their own
fault.  There was an excellent turnout; 80 people from many different lodges in SC and GA
came to see Divver confer a 3rd degree for 3 candidates.  Two were from Townville lodge
the other was from Divver lodge.  The DDGM for the 14th District was present, as well as the
Junior Grand Deacon and the Grand Pursuivant.  It was an excellent degree and the three
candidates were eager to be active in their lodges.

May 14 - Lockhart 244
The Goodwill Ambassador got to stay at his home lodge as Lockhart 244 conferred a
Fellowcraft Degree for Bro. Jojo Parks.  There was a great meal of barbecue, baked beans,
coleslaw, and your choice of banana pudding, strawberry-banana pudding and chocolate
cake.  WB Eddie Porter did the working tools as well as the lecture.  Great degree by the
officers and Bro. Jojo seemed to be excited to work towards his next step.  His dad and four
uncles, one of who is a former DDGM, showed up to support him.

great work.  WB Eddie Porter put on the lecture, with a little assistance from the Goodwill
Ambassador, who also got to sit in as Junior Warden.  Overall a great job by Mt. Joy and their
     officers.

May 7 - Chesnee 294
Will and Nelson traveled to Chesnee, SC to visit Chesnee 294.  They were putting on a 3rd
for a 2nd generation mason.  His father conferred the work, as well as was the Senior
Deacon for the 2nd part.  In between parts we had a great meal of pasta and sausage, bread
and various desserts.  RWB Jimmy Hayes, the Standard Bearer for the Grand Lodge, was
there and presented the newly raised brother with William Roger's Grandmaster Coin.  All in
all it was a great degree.

April 2015
April 30 - Duncan 256
Will, Nelson, WB Sammy Weber and WB Eddie Porter made the long ten minute trip to
Buffalo, SC to visit Duncan 256.  They had a Past Master's 3rd degree.  They had a good
meal of spaghetti and bread.  WB Eddie served as Senior Deacon on the first part and
Worshipful Master on the second part.  Since there was no past master, Bro. Will got to
do his part as Goodwill Ambassador and serve as Senior Deacon.  WB Buster Hefner also
got to take part in the degree.

April 23 - Grand Lodge Annual Communication (Charleston, SC)
Will, Nelson, Benji and WB Tony Lawson traveled to Charleston, SC to represent Lockhart
244 at the 278th Annual Communication of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Ancient
Freemasons of South Carolina.  RWB Dean Tollison, PDDGM was there as well as WB Troy
Shealy who we later found out to be our DDGM for 2015-2017.  Our new Grandmaster was
also elected, MWB William B. Rogers.  Over the 2 day event, we learned a lot as it was the
first Grand Lodge communication that any of us had attended.  We bought the new Grand-
master's tie (click on pictures tab), but most importantly we had a lot of fun and fellowship
with brothers from across the state.  The 279th communication will be held in Greenville, SC.
I would recommend that every master mason attend at least one annual communication if
for nothing more than the great feeling of being in the same room as upwards of 700 other
     masons.

April 16 - Inman 201
Will and Nelson traveled to Inman, SC to visit Inman 201.  They had a 1st degree and it was
the first time for all the new officers.  For being their first time, they did an excellent job.  They
had a great dinner of fried chicken, green beans, rice and gravy, rolls and chocolate and
strawberry cake for dessert.  Inman is a great lodge and always make us feel welcome.
January 2015
January 28 - Amity 87
Nelson, Will, WB Sammy and WB Eddie Porter traveled to Newberry, SC to make another
visit to Amity 87.  This time they were having a 3rd degree.  The new officers did a great job
in welcoming another Master Mason into our fraternity.  They served mexican soup for dinner
     and we all enjoyed it.

January 23 - Little Mountain 289
Will and Nelson traveled down to Little Mountain to visit with the brethren and support another
brother taking his first step in masonry.  They were having an EA degree with one candidate.

    glad to have us.

Prudence 135.  They had a 3rd degree with 3 candidates.  They had a good meal of chicken
stew, which was nice on a chilly evening.  Will got to sit in as Jr Warden and also 1st base.
The three candidates did well and it's nice to have 3 more eager brothers in masonry.

December 15 - Mt Joy 203
Will, Nelson, WB Sammy, WB Eddie, WB Buster, Butch Carter and our 2 newly made
brothers made the short trip to Mount Joy 203 to see their 1st degree.  Mount Joy is a
smaller lodge and there was a good crowd.  The candidate was a son of one of the Past
Masters from their lodge.  A great meal of hot dogs, chili and chips was served.

December 11 - Lockhart 244
Lockhart 244 put on a 1st degree for 2 candidates, Eric Leopard and Todd Cudd.  Will Carter
served as WM, Sammy Baines, Sr as SW, Tony Lawson as JW, Benji Sorrells as SD, Nelson

      and Bro Travis Bishop

Will, Nelson, WB Eddie, and WB Sammy traveled to Rock Hill, SC to visit York 285.

officers.  There was a good showing of support for these candidates from different lodges
around the area.  A great meal of roast, green beans, mashed potatos, rolls and various pies
was served. It was an enjoyable time for everyone.
November 2014
November 20 - Bethel 112
Will and Nelson made their way up to Woodruff to see a 2nd degree at Bethel lodge.  This
degree was for the same candidate that they were in attendance for his EA.  Had a very good
meal of hot dogs, coleslaw, baked beans and chips.  There were only 3 visitors. Nelson got to
play the part of the treasurer, while Will got to be a steward on the 1st part and got to sit in
the West on the 2nd part.  This particular candidate will have a great time on his 3rd degree.

November 19 - Corinthian 416
Will and Nelson traveled to Newport, SC to visit Corinthian 416.  Hot dogs and chips were the
meal. They had an EA degree with 2 candidates, one of which who was from Columbia and

well and it was a great degree.

Will, Nelson, WB Eddie Porter and WB Sammy Weber traveled to Chesnee, SC to visit
Chesnee 294.  They had a MM degree with 2 candidates completing their masonic journey.

definitely recommend visiting Chesnee if you can.

October 27 - Cherokee 135
Will Carter and Nelson Brawley Jr traveled to Cherokee Springs to see an EA degree.
Cherokee Springs is the home lodge of RWB Trent Henderson and RWB Sam Turner III
was also in attendance. They had 2 candidates and they both passed with flying colors.
Had a great meal of she-crab soup. Always a good time in Cherokee Springs.

October 21 - Bethel 112

assured him that he did a great job.

October 20 - Prosperity 115
Will Carter and Nelson Brawley Jr traveled to Prosperity, SC to visit Prosperity 115. There
is only one lodge that has not been visited, that being Duncan lodge in Buffalo, SC. This is
the home lodge of MWB Gerald Carver, who is also their sitting Junior Warden.  They had an
EA degree and it went well. Most Worshipful was in the Worshipful Master's chair and he was

Will Carter, Nelson Brawley, Jr, WB Eddie Porter and WB Sammy Weber traveled to Peak,
SC to visit Pomaria 151. They were putting on a 1st degree and had invited us when we
visited them in September.  We had a good meal of salad, spaghetti and meatballs and
garlic bread sticks. When we visited in Sept., there were 12 people, this time there were
about 30.  There was one candidate and he was obviously nervous, but he did exactly
what he was supposed to and we all left happy.

October 8 - Greenwood 91
Will Carter, Nelson Brawley Jr, WB Sammy Weber and WB Eddie Porter traveled to
Greenwood 91 to see a 1st degree. When we pulled up to the lodge, we weren't sure if
anything was going on as the parking lot was empty. The one person in the parking lot
was the candidate and he didn't know more than us. When we finally did get inside, everyone
was happy that we came to visit. WB Eddie got to sit in as Treasurer and Will got to sit in as
Tiler. They had light refreshments for the crowd. Their Junior Warden that night was the
current District Deputy Grandmaster for the 11th district, RWB G Walker Moore. The one
thing memorable about their lodge is that their entrance is by the Worshipful Master and not
the Senior Warden. Greenwood 91 was chartered in 1853.

Will Carter, Benji Sorrells and Nelson Brawley Jr made the long trip to Pendleton, SC to visit

happy for the opportunity to be part of Poplar Springs lodge.

September 23 - Pomaria 151
Will and Nelson traveled down to Peak, SC to visit Pomaria 151. Pomaria is a fairly small
lodge but everyone welcome us as  if we were members, just like it should be, and has been
everywhere we've gone. They did great work, and even asked me to be King Hiram of Tyre.
I must have done a good job because  they invited us to come back. Great meal of barbecue
sandwiches, chips and cake for dessert.

September 29 - Roebuck 357
Will and Nelson traveled to Roebuck 357 to see a Master Mason degree. They had a good
meal of vegetable soup, chips, cornbread, pork rinds and cake for dessert. Will was asked to

September 30 - Palmetto 19
Will and Nelson  traveled to Laurens, SC to visit Palmetto 19 and support their 3 candidates
that were taking their first step into masonry. It's always good to be able to support a brother
as they take their Entered Apprentice degree.  All 3 seemed very eager to come back and
and find more light in masonry.

October 2 - Chesnee 294
Will and Nelson traveled to Chesnee to see 4 candidates take their Fellowcraft degree. Had
a great meal of rice, chili, cornbread and banana pudding for dessert. The lecture was great
as it always is. You always learn something new.  One brother said if the house is packed for
his 3rd we can load the wagon all the way up!
August 2014
August 2 - Belmont 627 (Belmont, NC)
Will Carter, Benji Sorrells and Nelson Brawley Jr. traveled to Belmont, NC to see how North
Carolina puts on an EA and FC degree. Needless to say it is significantly different than how
we do it in South Carolina.

August 16 - Cave Degree in Kingston, TN
Will Carter and Benji Sorrells traveled to Kingston, TN to see the 43rd Annual Cave Degree.
This year a Master Mason degree was conferred by Whitney 264 in Spartanburg, SC. It is
conferred by a different state each year.
There were 218 masons that attended, including our
past Grandmaster Jay Adam Pearson. Twelve states and 71 different lodges were
represented in all. I would recommend that anyone who gets the chance experiences it at
      least once.

August 21 - Cliffside 460 (Cliffside, NC)
Will Carter, Nelson Brawley, Jr and WB Sammy Weber traveled to Cliffside, NC to see a
Master Mason degree. They had a very good meal and were very welcoming. The NC 3rd
degree is a bit different than South Carolina's but the lesson is still learned. Upon leaving
they gave us a Cliffside lodge pin and said that no "first time visitor leaves Cliffside empty
      handed."

August 27 - Amity 87
Will Carter and Nelson Brawley, Jr traveled to Newberry to visit Amity 87,  They always
make us feel welcome when we visit them. They had a great meal; chicken, mixed
mixed vegetables, green beans and chocolate and strawberry cake for dessert.  Great work
done by the brothers at Amity 87.
